Joe Simpson
Joe Simpson and Simon Yates were the first person who successfully climbed the peak of Siula Grande, in the mountains of the Andes, Peru. The disaster happened on the way down, and Yates was forced to let Simpson who was badly injured falling 100 feet into an ice chasm. Simpson survived the fall and spent three days to crawl back into the main tent.

just finished the book, amazing. An unyielding emotionalist, I actually cried, alone in my car of course, but the jubilation and desperation in the book are mind blowing. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteJust finished watching the documentary feature Touching the Void. The resourcefulness of Joe Simpson is quite amazing, and certainly exceptional.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that this documentary, however, sheds a better light on what Simon Yates did and did not do during that dramatic experience... In fact, I think it's the complete opposite. Unfortunately.
Nevertheless, thank you for inspiring people all over the world.
